Eight charged with drug offenses enter guilty pleas

District Judge William C. Dupont has sentenced five drug offenders to prison terms and three others to probation, District Attorney Richard J. “Ricky” Ward Jr. reported Monday.

The eight defendants pleaded guilty before Dupont in 18th Judicial District Court last week and on Monday.

Dupont ordered two defendants – Richard Daigle, 46, of 43183 Black Bayou Road, Gonzales, and Timothy Poplion, 47, of 2632A Lukeville Lane, Brusly, to serve five years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections after each pleaded guilty to a possession of cocaine charge.

He ordered three year-sentences for Damien Selders, 29, of 58532 W. W. Harleaux, Plaquemine, and Dedric Washington, 25, of P.O. Box 222, Port Allen, both pleading guilty to cocaine possession.

James Rome, 34, of 20460 Charles Ory Drive, Plaquemine, to serve two years for distribution of a Schedule II narcotic.

Drawing probation were Louis Gilbert, 48, of 58613 are Drive, Plaquemine, and Rohan Williams, 34, of Carrollton Georgia, both for possession of a Schedule II drug, and Joslin Simmons, 26, of 33630 Bowie Street, White Castle, for possession of cocaine
