It's the law: Slow down on Kirtley

The speed limit on Kirtley Drive will be reduced from 35 to 25 miles an hour under an ordinance passed last week by the Iberville Parish Council.

Parish Councilman Terry J. Bradford of Plaquemine proposed the measure as an effort to make the street safer.

“The reduction of the speed limit on Kirtley Drive will improve the overall safety and welfare of the motoring public and provide greater safety to the children playing in the area,” the ordinance said.

New speed limit signs will be posted on the road to make the change official.
