Plaquemine Lions kick off 70th year

The Plaquemine Lions Club entered its 70th year of community service at its recent installation banquet at the Plaquemine Lions Den.
Former District 8-N Governor Willie Thousand, from the Port Allen Lions Club, installed the officers,including 2011-12 president Jerry Bradford.
The Plaquemine chapter was chartered in 1942.
George Boucher will serve as first vice president, while John W. Wilbert IV was installed as second vice president. Bob Martin will serve as treasuer and T.C. "Flash" Howard, secretary.
John Sasser was named Lion Tamer and Andrew Zito, tail twister.
Board members include Roy “Rock” Kolder, John W. Wilbert III, Peter Gauthier,and Johnny LeBlanc.
Kolder received the "Lion of the Year" award at the banquet, while longtime member Charles Pirello was honored on his 55th year of membership with the chapter.
