Jail inmate charged in day room battery
Staff reports
An Iberville Parish Jail inmate was charged Saturday with aggravated battery after he allegedly hit another inmate in the head with a sack containing a blunt object, believed to be a bar of soap, Chief of Operations Aubrey St. Angelo said.
Jailers reported seeing the attack on a video camera trained on the day room during a social hour, St. Angelo said.
Reginald W. Tate, 41, of 58827 W. W. Harleaux, Plaquemine, was charged with aggravated battery and placed in solitary confinement, the official said.
The victim, injured by what was believed to be a bar of soap, suffered a minor contusion and a small cut on the back of his head, according to St. Angelo.
