Woman charged in break-in, battery
The Plaquemine Police last week arrested Linday Shea Verrett, 21, of 24165 Harold Lane, Plaquemine, accused of forcing her way into a local home and stabbing a woman in the head with a screwdriver, Capt. Kenneth Payne said.
Acadian Ambulance emergency medical technologists treated the victim, who refused further medical treatment, he said.
Payne said Verret was charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, aggravated second degree battery, simple battery and simple damage to property.
She is accused of attempting to push her way through a bedroom window and when that was unsuccessful, pushing her way through the front door of the house, the captain said.
In other action last week, police also arrested Quinton Laurence, 50, of 58634 W. W. Harleaux, Plaquemine, on charges of aggravated second degree battery and simple battery, Payne said.
He said Laurence is accused of making threats to a man walking in front of his house, punching him in the face with a closed fist and then picking up a brick from the side of the roadway and hitting the victim in the face.
The victim was sent to Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital in Baton Rouge for treatment of a laceration, Payne said.
