The Iberville Sheriff's Office last week charged a Plaquemine for stabbing a man she was arguing with at a La. 75 residence, Chief of Operations Aubrey St. Angelo said.

The victim refused medical attention, but later was taken to Baton Rouge General Hospital-MidCity where he received seven stitches for a half-inch cut to his right bicep, St. Angelo said.

Tracy Smith, 25, of 33285 La. 75 was arrested on a charge of aggravated second degree battery, he said.

He said the victim told deputies he and Smith were in a verbal argument when Smith went at him with a utility knife, while Smith said she feared for her life and was trying to defend herself.

In a separate incident, deputies responding to an altercation in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Belleview Road arrested Antonio Magee, 36 of 62405A Jones Street, Plaquemine, on an aggravated battery charge after he allegedly stabbed a man in the forearm with a knife, St. Angelo said.

He said the men were arguing over a cell phone, which Magee claimed belonged to him. The victim, who refused medical treatment, claimed he paid Magee $125 for the phone and refused to give it back, St. Angelo said.
