Tropical wave brings change in area weather
A tropical wave in the Gulf of Mexico will bring signficant changes to the weather pattern for the Labor Day weekend.
The first week of September brings a slight drop in temperatures, but significantly higher rain chances, thanks to the tropical wave.
The daytime high Thursday will reach the lower 90s, while overnight lows will dip into the lower 70s. Winds will be from the northeast at 10-12 mph.
A 50 percent chance of rain is in the forecast for Thursday. Probabilities will increase to 60 percent Friday, 70 percent on Saturday and 80 percent on Sunday.
A 40 percent chance of rain is exepcted for Labor Day.
The rainfall should bring a slight relief from the daytime heat, with highs only reaching the mid 80s during the long weekend.
A decrease in rain probablity after Labor Day will bring highs back toward the lower 90s, although scattered showers are still in the forecast.
