The 18 members of the first Leadership Iberville Class started a nine-month study program with an opening session last week at The Island Country Club in Plaquemine.

The members, all Iberville Parish residents or members of the Iberville Chamber of Commerce, will  meet once a month through May to study topics including communications, listening, ethics, critical thinking, decision making, parish and state government, economic development, education, health care, social concerns, and environment.

Leadership Iberville has been developed as a means to provide existing and emerging leaders insight and information regarding vital community issues, facilitate a communication network among these individuals and then challenge these leaders to increase their involvement in new, more effective ways.

The opening session was sponsored by A. Wilbert's Sons, LLC.
