Sounds of Christmas set for this Sunday in Plaquemine

Christmas rejoicing and sounds of carols and gospel music will ring out in Plaquemine this coming Sunday when the Iberville Parish Chorus presents its “Sound of Christmas” concert.

The event will begin a 4 p.m. this Sunday (Dec. 11) at St. Peter Baptist Church (Court Street) and the public is invited. Doors will open at 3 p.m.

The repertoire includes traditional Christmas Carols and Gospel arrangements as well as contemporary selections appropriate for the season.  Special features of the event will be performances by the Mount Cyrene Baptist Church Youth Choir, The Daughters of Zion Praise Dancers, and St. John the Baptist Church Praise Dancers.

Guest trumpeter will be John Gray, while guest harpist will be Trenise Gautier.

The event will include a Tribute to the late music legend Walter Hawkins.

Local Pastors and Evangelists will serve as Narrators. They include Rev. Richard Rayborn Jr., Rev. Gregory Coates, Rev. Shuana Johnson, Evangelist Chris Butler, Rev. Ricardo Handy, and Rev. Shannon Warner. 

Musicians included in the event will be Alcide Simmions (Director/ Musician), Bobby Williams (Organist/ Keyboard), Richelle Richardson (Keyboard), Denise Walker (Organist/ Keyboard), Kevin Hardin (Percussionist), and Brandon Sparks (Percussionist). 

Soloists will be Lousat Dubois, Augistinbe Jackson, Carolyn Wilson, Carolyn Jones, Kedra Vessel, Alcide Simmions, Charlene Stafford, Glenda Young, and Rev. Van Smith Jr. (Music Coordinator).
