Ourso administration Courthouse offices move to different hours
Iberville Parish employees in the parish president's administrative offices, the sales tax department and Office of Community Services are working extended hours Monday through Thursday and taking Friday afternoons off – at least for a trial run.
Parish President J. Mitchell Ourso Jr. said the parish employees began last week working from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with a half hour for lunch, and from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday. (They had been working from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
“I'll see how it works for the next 90 days or so,” he said. “If it doesn't work, I'll probably switch back.”
Some parish employees found the schedule in use in other parishes, where officials felt they were able to accomplish more for their constituents.
“They will be the first ones to get there in the morning and the last to leave to better serve the public,” Ourso said. “Friday is usually a slow day anyway.”
