Victim identified in Plaquemine motel slaying

The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office released the name of the victim in an early morning shooting Friday at the Relax Inn (formerly Riverbend Motel).

The victim was identified as Ryan Daley, 31, of 63900 Bayou Jacob Road, Plaquemine.

Four people were occupying a room at the motel on La. 1 South when a knock at the door was answered and a man entered the premises pointing a pistol. Money was demanded and the assailant shot, killing him. The shooting occurred between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.

“We are looking at it as an apparent robbery. The shooter seems to have picked out Dailey. We are continuing to investigate the incident and we have witnesses,” commented Sheriff’s Officer Stephen Engolio.
