Victim identified in Plaquemine motel slaying

The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office released the name of the victim killed in the early morning shooting Friday at the Relax Inn (formerly Riverbend Motel).

The victim was identified as Brian Paul Bailey of Bayou Sorrel.Bailey was described by the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Dept. as a white male in his late twenties.

Four people were occupying a room at the motel when a knock at the door was answered and a man entered the premises pointing a pistol. Money was demanded and the assailant shot Bailley, killing him. The shooting occurred between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.

“We are looking at it as an apparent robbery. The shooter seems to have picked out Dailey. We are continuing to investigate the incident and we have witnesses,” commented Sheriff’s Officer Stephen Engolio.

The Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the murder.
