N.C. man killed in I-10 crash

GROSSE TETE - A North Carolina man was killed after veering off Interstate 10 East into oncoming traffic on Wednesday night

The victim was identified as Christopher Attinelli, 47, of Charlotte.

The wreck happened near Grosse Tete around 9 p.m. and shut down I-10 West until 12:30 a.m.

The Louisiana State Police said the 1998 Ford Mustang the victim was driving crossed the median into oncoming traffic.

Troopers said a 2000 Toyota truck slammed into the passenger side of Attinelli's car and the impact caused him to be ejected. Attinelli was not wearing a seat belt.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people in the truck suffered minor injuries.

A sample of Attinelli's blood was sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
