Tressy Gleason has announced that she is seeking to fill a seat on the Iberville Parish School Board representing District A in the fall 2014 elections.

Gleason, 46, has served on boards for non-profit organizations as well as having served over the past 18 years on a number of lead committees in all facets of the education process. The Iberville Parish School Board is experiencing a great transition due to a 2010 law approved for redistricting by the State Legislature.

Gleason promises to bring her experiences and education to the Board for the benefit of the students and staff. Her more than 20 years of legal background, her ability to relate to others, and her determination to make informed carefully considered decisions make her an excellent choice. With children in Iberville Parish School System, Gleason is in touch with the needs and issues facing students and parents.

“My desire is for our school system to move past the benchmark of scores of basic understanding and have excellence as a well-established standard for our students. We must get to the students as early as possible and foster a relationship between the school and the home. Parents should know that we are all stakeholders in the success of our students and our school system. “

Education has been central to the Gleason family of 4 sons, giving Gleason experience in college, private, parochial, homeschooling and public school venues. Gleason recently graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern State University with a bachelor of science degree and an associates degree in general studies. She also holds a liberal arts degree from LSU Eunice. Additionally, having one child graduate college and one currently attending college, Gleason has insight into the education process. Her depth of experience and education will benefit our Board. She is married to Jeff Gleason (who is an educator also). Gleason’s two school aged sons, Oren and Evan, are in 6th and 4th grades, respectively at MSA East in St. Gabriel, Louisiana.
