57-year-old Mark A. “Tony” Gulotta, Mayor of Plaquemine, passed away after he was rushed to the hospital Friday morning.
He was taken to the hospital around 10:15 a.m. and passed away approximately at 10:52 a.m.
According to some close to the Mayor, Gulotta had a history of heart disease and suffered a heart attack Friday morning. According to the family, Gulotta was at a friend’s house Friday morning when he had a heart attack and collapsed.
Gulotta was elected to his first term in 1992 and was serving his sixth straight term as mayor. He was also recently named Secretary-Treasurer of LEPA Board of Directors.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
