Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of Fame Grand Opening to be held at the Iberville Museum

Members of the Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of Fame hold artifacts that will be a part of the museum's Boxing Hall of Fame exhibit. The exhibit is tentatively scheduled to open on October 31, 2015.

On Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., the Iberville Museum will celebrate the opening of the Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of Fame that will be permanently housed in the museum. High school boxing began on a competitive basis in Louisiana in 1931 and became one of the state’s most popular and successful sports. The highlight of each season was the state tournament that was held on the LSU campus from1931 to 1949 and at Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette from 1950 to 1958.

The exhibit features artifacts from several inductees of the Hall of Fame as well as photographs and personal stories from the sport’s history. The grand opening event will feature speakers, refreshments and tours of the hall of fame exhibit. Admission is free.
