The City of St. Gabriel celebrated Earth Day on Friday, April 22 by planting citrus trees at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on the corner of Hwy. 75 and Point Clair Rd. in St. Gabriel.

Officials partnered with Baton Rouge Green for the event to plant six citrus trees in the city.

“Earth Day not only affords us an opportunity to teach our youth the importance of preserving our environment,” St. Gabriel Mayor Lionel Johnson said, “it also demonstrates how we can come together in peace in an effort to do so.”
