Hop on the bandwagon at Bandwagon Fest, Sun. May 22
Jacye Guerin has been hard at work on her first album since beginning her musical journey. She broke out of her shell at the Wednesday night Soul Jams at D’s in Plaquemine last June and has been performing numerous live shows around the greater Baton Rouge area.
She recently spent some time in Nashville, Tn. writing parts of her debut album at Creative Workshop Recording.
Producer Andreas Werner, owner of Crazy Chester Music and Records in Nashville, has spent time working with Jacye to make her dream a reality.
“Jacye is an exceptional talent,” Werner said. “It is going to be a great album.”
The independent record label produces music in Nashville, Muscle Shoals, Al. and Zurich, Switzerland. Creative Workshop Recording, owned by Buzz Cason, will be where the majority of work will be done for Jacye’s album.
They began their work in November 2015 and hope for a release at the end of 2016.
In the meantime, Jacye and her friends have organized an upcoming event called Bandwagon Fest.
The musical festival will be held at the C.M. “Mike” Zito Center in Plaquemine and feature several local musical artists and groups.
The benefit hopes to raise money to support Jacye and other local artists that share the same dream in creating albums of their own.
“I feel like I wanted to give back and give people something to enjoy while they were donating money,” Guerin said. “This benefit will help us hire a professional band in the recording process.
“I didn’t want this to just be a benefit for me, I want it to be a benefit for others.”
Jacye wishes Bandwagon Fest to become an annual event that will benefit a different local artist each year.
Jacye and the event organizers are still searching for vendors to set up booths. There will also be food and drink wagons set up at Bandwagon Fest, along with live auctions and raffles.
Bandwagon Fest is set for Sunday, May 22 from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.bandwagonfest.com. If you wish to donate towards Jacye’s efforts, visit www.gofundme.com/Jacye.
