Band Wagon Fest hosts over 500 festival-goers

Band Wagon Fest, held Sunday, May 22 at the C.M. “Mike” Zito Multipurpose Center in Plaquemine hosted over 500 festival-goers and various musical talents.
Artist roster included: the up and coming teenage band “Groove Haus” from Baton Rouge; singer/songwriter Joshua Gourgues, from Plaquemine along with Rebecca Berthelot from Addis; Mattie Williams, entertainer from Plaquemine; the hard core country act from Gonzales, Stonewall Broussard Band; and singer/songwriter Jake Gunter from Baton Rouge; nationally recognized Chinese opera singer, Liqun Fang with accompaniment of Chinese dancer; and the finale that ended the night was Jacye Guerin’s band which included guest appearances from her producer, Andreas Werner from Nashville, and founder of the famous “Muscle Shoals Horns”, Mr. Ronnie Eades. Supporting musicians of the day were: Chris Jones, Buck Langston, Tommy Guidry, A J Braux, Hal Higgins, Troy Carter, Amberlee Roaden, and Pat-e Salzeta.
Band Wagon Fest was made possible by local supporters, including Plaquemine Mayor Mary Sue Gulotta. Local vendors included: ice cream from Darlene Ourso and Coach’s Corner, hamburgers from Hollis and Uncle Johnny’s, mixed drinks from Courtney Celestine and Tipsy Taste, chili dogs and pulled pork sandwiches from Deborah Dickerson and D’s Soul Food, jambalaya from Chris Lemoine and turkey wings from Rev. Frank Collins and Greater Little Zion Baptist Church.
Other booths included: art from Terri Giauque, jellies and jams from Althea Bumpers, and wood crafts from Cherie Boudreaux.
Band Wagon Fest would like to thank the local businesses that showed their support of the event including: Trosclair Print; Live Electronics, LLC; Hop N Shop; Chevron, Wilbert Insurance, Charlie Edwards with State Farm Insurance, Fat Daddy’s/Lil Daddy’s, Riverside Specialty Meats, Top Notch Catering, and many more. They would also like to thank the Plaquemine Fire Department, Plaquemine City Police and the Iberville Sheriff’s Office for providing security and first aid.
