Citizens gathered at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 58715 Price St. in Plaquemine on July 19 to donate blood in memory and honor of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers that were slain in the July 17, 2016 shooting in Baton Rouge.

Blood donations were collected by Our Lady of the Lake blood bank.

“We had eight traumas and used more than 550 units of blood,” David Gremillion Director of Our Lady of the Lake Blood Donor Services said.  “The drives we are conducting in our communities now are a great way for us to resupply our bank.  We are very fortunate the support has been great in the community.  We thank the KC group here in Plaquemine for hosting and we are glad to be here.”

Following the blood drive, the Blue Knight Headquarters hosted a donation drive to support law enforcement officials on July 20.  Citizens dropped off Powerade, Gatorade, water, snacks, thank you cards and other donation items to show their support.

Shown are pictures from the blood drive and donation.
