Troopers, IPSO bust illegal casino in Plaquemine restaurant

Troopers along with Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office uncovered an illegal gambling operation at La Rumba in Plaquemine.

Shortly after 12 p.m. on December 8, 2016, Troopers with the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division along with Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested Adolfo Gonzales-Lopez, 45, after a month-long investigation into an illegal gambling operation at a Mexican grill in Plaquemine.

On Nov. 4, 2016, the LSP Gaming Enforcement Division began their investigation after receiving credible information that a computer based casino was being operated illegally out of the La Rumba Mexican Grill in Plaquemine.

After conducting multiple undercover operations in the establishment LSP discovered that illegal gambling was consistently taking place at the restaurant.

Troopers and Iberville Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant at La Rumba and seized a desktop computer and multiple hard drives.  Gonzalez-Lopez was booked into Iberville Parish jail.

According to a LSP press release the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests may be pending.
