Congratulations to St. John High School junior football player, Devin Brock, the recipient of this year's Patrick S. Doyle Athletic Award. Brock, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Brock, received his award at St. John's Fall Athletic Convocation, and his name will be added to the plaque of recipients that hangs in the hallway of St. John High, along with Patrick Doyle's now-retired football jersey.

This award was first given in the fall of 1996, in memory of the late Patrick Doyle, a member of St. John's class of 1996, and was last awarded in 2006. Head football coach Ashton Cagnolatti, who received the award himself in 2003, reintroduced the award this year, with the support of the Doyle family.

This award is given to a junior football player who has played football since his freshman year, and who demonstrates the qualities Patrick Doyle was known for: character, leadership, commitment to his team, sportsmanlike competition, readiness to work hard, exemplary personal conduct, and the respect of his teammates. The coaching staff and the Doyle family selected Devin, who is a multi-sport athlete at St. John, because they feel he reflects "what it truly means to be a St. John football player."
