The Plaquemine Garden Club, along with Plaquemine Mayor Ed Reeves, recently celebrated Arbor Day by planting a Persimmon tree at the Mark A. “Tony” Gulotta Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park on January 25.

The persimmon tree is annually chosen and planted because the City of Plaquemine is named after a Native American word meaning “Persimmon”.
