dancExpression dancers win big at competitions

Winners from dancExpression Dance Studio in Plaquemine recently competed in the annual Showbiz Talent Competition, held Jan. 27-28, and the Nyla Dance Competition, held Feb. 4. Categories and winners follow:
Showbiz Talent Competition
Solo:
Sydney Blanchard danced to “Candyman” and received a High Gold medal in the Junior Division; Claire Cox danced to “Shooting Star” and received a High Gold medal and a fourth place high score overall in the Pre-teen Division; Cassidy Blanchard danced to “Dirty Diana” and received a High Gold medal and a fifth place high overall score in the Pre-senior Division; Teri Alexander danced to “Apologize” and received a High Gold medal and fourth place high overall score in the Pre-senior Division; Allee Thibodeaux danced to “We’re In Heaven” and received a High Gold medal, a costume award, and fourth place high overall score in the Senior Division.
Duo/Trios Junior Division:
Baileigh Barbay, Abigail Morales and Harmony Jenkins danced to “Fly to Your Heart” and received a High Gold medal; Baileigh Barbay and Sydney Blanchard danced to “Witch Doctor” and received a High Gold medal and ninth place high overall score; Baileigh Barbay, Abigail Morales and Harmony Jenkins danced to “Respect” and received a High Gold medal and seventh play high overall score.
Duo/Trios Teen Division:
Sydney Blanchard, Claire Cox and Karalyn Thomas danced to “Skyscraper” and received a High Gold medal and eighth place high overall score; Karalyn Thomas and Teri Alexander danced to “To This Day” and received a High Gold medal and fifth place overall score; Claire Cox and Cassidy Blanchard danced to “Held” and received a High Gold medal and second place high overall score.
Duo/Trios Senior Division:
Teri Alexander, Cassidy Blanchard and Allee Thibodeaux danced to “Beautiful” and received a High Gold and fourth place overall score.
Junior Small Group:
Baileigh Barbay, Abigail Morales, Harmony Jenkins, Sydney Blanchard, Claire Cox and Karalyn Thomas danced to “Ease On Down the Road” and received a High Gold medal and ninth place overall score.
Senior Small Group:
Karalyn Thomas, Teri Alexander, Cassidy Blanchard and Allee Thibodeaux danced to “Never Alone” and received a High Gold and second place overall score.
The dance crew then advanced to compete at the Nyla Dance Competition. The winners are:

Duo/Trio Teen Division:
Sydney Blanchard, Claire Cox and Karalyn Thomas danced to “Skyscraper” and received a High Triple Gold medal and fifth place overall score. They also received a choreography award, choreographed by dancExpression owner Kayla LeJeune; Karalyn Thomas and Teri Alexander danced to “To This Day” and received a Platinum medal and second place overall high score. They duet also received a Judges Choice award for Powerful Piece and a choreography award.
Duo/Trio Senior Division:
Teri Alexander, Cassidy Blanchard and Allee Thibodeaux danced to “Beautiful” and received a Platinum medal and third place overall high score.
Senior Small Group:
Karalyn Thomas, Teri Alexander, Cassidy Blanchard and Allee Thibodeaux danced to “Never Alone” and received a Platinum medal and second place overall high score.
