Plaquemine High Band invited to march in Independence Day Parade at Nation's Capital

Andrew Green

Plaquemine High “Green Machine” Marching Band has been better than ever under the new leadership and direction of Anthony Hollins and have shown great improvement every year.

The group has even been referred to as a miniature version of Southern University’s “Human Jukebox”.  With the increase in talent, comes an increase in endeavors for the “Green Machine” including trips to almost all of the New Orleans Mardi Gras parades, trips to Mississippi and Texas and even taking first place at Krewe of Tucks.

The PHS Marching Band is in pursuit of its biggest endeavor yet, a trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the National Independence Day Parade down Historic Constitution Avenue on July 4, 2017 as representatives of the State of Louisiana.

The “Green Machine” is asking for the public’s help in making this trip possible.  If you are interested in donating to the Plaquemine High Marching Band, contact Plaqeumine High School at 225-687-6367.
