Early morning fire at Delpit's Chicken Shack in Plaquemine under investigation

A Monday morning fire at Chicken Shack in Plaquemine is believed to be an arson case, according to some officials.

An early morning fire that occurred Monday, March 20 at Delpit’s Chicken Shack in Plaquemine is under investigation.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Monday morning at the restaurant located on Hwy. 1 and took firefighters only about 20 minutes to extinguish.

Evidence found at the scene lead officials with the Sheriff’s Office, Plaquemine Fire Department and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office to believe they are investigating a possible arson case.  The restaurant has only been open for about three months.

The case is under investigation with the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office and will be updated as soon as more information is released.
