According to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi and Plaquemine Police Chief Kenny Payne, detectives with the LEAD Task Force conducted a search warrant at 23810 Levy Street in Plaquemine on Monday, March 27.

Detectives arrested Masimo Vasquez, 39, of Plaquemine for possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics (marijuana), possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives seized approximately two pounds of marijuana, worth a street value of about $16,000 according to reports, and four guns, three of them high-powered.

“Uniformed patrol is the backbone of the Sheriff’s Office,” Iberville Sheriff Brett Stassi said.  “But I want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the detectives and the narcotics agents for the major arrests this week.”
