MSA-West Orchestra earns national honors

MSA-West Orchestra recently competed in the Worldstrides OnStage Heritage Festival in St. Louis, Mo.

The MSA-West Orchestra recently traveled to compete in the Worldstrides OnStage Heritage Festival in St. Louis, Mo. on April 8, 2017.

In the midst of a busy itinerary of activities, the group competed in four separate instrumental categories: Full Orchestra, String Orchestra, Concert Band and Jazz Band.

Each ensemble earned a Gold Rating (Superior) for their respective categories.  In addition, the following prestigious awards were presented to the group:

Sweepstakes Award for Instrumental Programs, Outstanding Orchestra Award, Outstanding Band Award and Adjudicator Award.

Several individual orchestra members were presented the Maestro Award for exceptional solo performances.  They are: Claynique Howard for clarinet in Concert Band, Noah Morgan for trumpet in Full Orchestra and Concert Band, and Jace Hebert for double bass in String Orchestra.

The MSA Orchestra and Concert Band were both invited to participate in the elite Festival of Gold in 2018.  Congratulations to all of the talented members of the MSA-West Orchestra, their director Dr. Michael Berthelot and dedicated assistant directors Dr. Emanuela Thomas and Mr. Lloyd Thomas.
