WBR Parish Library announces Spring Art Show winners

Winner of Best of Show, Randy LaPrairie's “Sophie's Cabin”.

West Baton Rouge Parish Library recently announced the winners of their 22nd Annual Spring Art Show.

Randy LaPrairie of Plaquemine received the Best of Show award for his painting “Sophie’s Cabin”.  The annual show features works from artists who are residents of or enrolled in art classes in Iberville, Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge parishes.

Jane Flowers served as the show judge.  She is a member of the Associated Women in the Arts, Art Guild of Louisiana, Baton Rouge Art League, Oil Painters of America and Jackson Hole Art Association.

Other winners by category are:

Professional: Mary A. Parker of Addis, First Place; Dianne M. Christopher of New Roads, Second Place; Susan LaBauve of Plaquemine, Third Place: Honorable mention: Andrea Fleming of Addis, Bing Zheng of Port Allen and Joan Landry Lasak of Plaquemine.

Non-Professional: Dara Coffey of Port Allen, First Place; Zoe Bertrand of Plaquemine, Second Place; Eva Sumrall of Bueche, Third Place; Honorable mention: Lanie Hebert of Port Allen, and Suzanne Lamotte of Port Allen.

Student: Quinn Ducote of Port Allen, First Place; Sharon White of Addis, Second Place; Logan Zimmerman of Brusly, Third Place; Honorable mention: Anna Teer of Ventress and Avery Savoy of Port Allen.

Best New Entrant: Ann LeBlanc of Erwinville.

“This is a three-parish, juried Annual Art Show which offers artists an opportunity to share their talents,” Beth Vandersteen, Director of West Baton Rouge Parish Library said.  “The quality of the art is certainly something to be seen and appreciated by the community.”

The art exhibit can be viewed at any time during regular library hours through Saturday, May 22, 2017.  It is free and open to the public.
