Oldest living couple in Bayou Goula
J.D and Julia Mae Pierre-Walker, of Bayou Goula, Louisiana met as kids and were married on November 13, 1954 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in White Castle. J.D is 85 and Julia Mae is 82.
After the wedding, they went to the local bar (Tumble Inn) in Bayou Goula to celebrate with family and friends. During those days, J.D. worked the night shift at Supples’ Sugar Mill and he had to leave the celebration early to go to work.
Julia is one of 10 siblings and J.D. is an only child. As a family, they have six children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
J.D was a self-taught carpenter who built several houses in Bayou Goula and retired from ExxonMobile as a Maintenance/Laboratory Technician. Julia worked as a housewife/maid. She currently performs community service by visiting nursing homes and conduct prayer meetings for the elderly. Both are active members at Bayou Goula Word of Truth New Life Center.
