Pedestrian killed in car crash at Belleview - La. 1 intersection

The crash that took the life of a pedestrian late Friday night at one of Plaquemine's busiest intersections remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
Dusty Rineheart, 36, died from injuries he suffered in the crash that occurred on La. 1 south at La. 75 (Belleview Road) in Plaquemine, according to Trooper Taylor Scrantz, a spokesman for Louisiana State Police Troop A.
The crash occurred when Rineheart walked across the southbound lanes of La. 1 shortly before 9:30 p.m. At the same time, a 200 Buick Regal, a 2019 Kia Optima and a 2017 Allegro motorhome were traveling southbound on La. 1.
Rineheart was struck by the Buick and subsequently run over by the Kia and Allegro as he attempted to cross the roadway.
The Iberville Parish Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
Impairment is suspected on the part of Rineheart, according to Scrantz. A toxicology sample was obtained from him for further analysis.
All other parties were properly restrained and not injured. Troopers administered chemical breath tests to the drivers, who showed no signs of impairment.
