A Community Meeting will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010, at 6:00 PM at the Town Hall located at 77510 Landry, in Maringouin, LA. All area officials and affected landowners are invited to attend.  This meeting will be sponsored by Angelle & Donohue Oil & Gas Properties, Inc. and CGGVeritas Land (U.S.) Inc.  These companies will be conducting seismic operations in Pointe Coupee in T 5 S - R 7 E,T 5 S - R 8 E, T 6 S - R 7 E, T 6 S - R 8 E, T 6 S - R 9 E, T 6 S - R 10 E, T 7 S - R 9 E , St. Martin in T 7 S - R 7 E, T 7 S - R 8 E, Iberville in T 7 S - R 10 E,T 7 S - R 9 E, T 7 S - R 8 E,  and W. VILLAGE OF GROSSE TETE

?MINUTES ?REGULAR MEETING? February 11, 2010

The Board of Aldermen of the Village of Grosse Tete held their regular meeting and public hearing at the Town Hall in Grosse Tete on February 11, 2010 at 6:00 P.M.

Mayor Michael Chauffe opened the meeting.  Alderwoman Juanita Hill led the pledge of allegiance.  The Mayor called roll and the meeting began.

PRESENT - Alderman Richard David, Alderwoman Juanita Hill, Alderman Kyle Booksh, Maintenance Superintendent Phillip Faveroth, Mayor Michael Chauffe, and Clerk Pamela George.

ABSENT – Attorney Larry Bossier

MINUTES - Alderman Richard David made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting and to accept as written, seconded by Alderwoman Juanita Hill and passed 3-0.

FINANCIAL REPORT - The finances were discussed and a motion was made by Alderman Kyle Booksh and seconded by Alderwoman Juanita Hill to accept the finances as presented and passed 3 - 0.

WATER LINE PROJECT – Bids were opened for the waterline project on Sidney Road south of Magnolia Street.  The following bids were submitted: Tullier Services - $78,200.00, North 60 Management, Inc. - $111,000.00 and Pointe Coupee Contractors - $69,800.00.  A motion was made by Alderman Richard David and seconded by Alderman Kyle Booksh to accept the lowest bid for the project.  This motion passed 3 -0 and the Bid was awarded to Pointe Coupee Contractors, LLC.

MAYORS REPORT - The Mayor gave an update on various projects going on in the Village of Grosse Tete.  They are as follows:

1.         Mayor Chauffe and Attorney Larry Bossier are working towards a Franchise agreement with Cox Telecommunications as well as Star Communications for services in the Village.

2.         Animal Control had been working in the area after complaints of animals not being tended were made to their office.

3.         The water line project for Angelloz Subdivision is underway.  The next step would be to get linear feet and hydrant locations specified before sending to DHH for approval.

4.         Sewer project should be put out for bid within the next 2 – 3 weeks.

5.         The Fire Hydrant located near Doc Ur Dose Pharmacy has been replaced.

JESSIE ROMIG SUBDIVISION – No Representative was available; however, maps of the property being proposed for annexation will be available for review in the Clerk’s Office at the Town Hall located at 18125 Willow Street, Grosse Tete, La. 

Mrs. Dianne Chauffe a shareholder in Chauffe Properties, LLC addressed the Board of Alderman with concerns of the Village of Grosse Tete taking in Jessie Romig’s Subdivision in the annexation without the owner(s) of such subdivision being held to the guidelines of Chapter 17 of the Code of Ordinances for the Village of Grosse Tete entitled “Subdivision Regulations”.  Mrs. Chauffe stated that the owners of Old Mill Trace Subdivision followed the guidelines of such ordinance when developing their property.  She stated that The Village of Grosse Tete may have a legal liability if they violated their own ordinance by taking in property that did not meet the guidelines set forth in the above stated ordinance.

ANNEXATION – After much discussion it was decided that Larry Bossier, Attorney would continue to gather information in regards to the Annexation of Old Mill Trace Subdivision as well as other areas outside of the corporate limits of Grosse Tete to be annexed, specifically the subdivision known as “Jessie Romig Subdivision”.  These properties consist of property extending from Old Mill Trace south of the railroad track on Highway 77 and property on the East side of Bayou Grosse Tete along Sidney Road which extends to the Parish canal and south of the railroad tracks.  This motion passed 3 – 0.

Mayor Chauffe suggested that Attorney Larry Bossier contact the Holliday family to find out if they are interested in being annexed into the Village of Grosse Tete.  Their property is situated between the current municipal line and the proposed area to be annexed.

The Board of Alderman requested that Attorney Larry Bossier draft a letter to the property owners of the proposed annexation asking if they are interested in being annexed into the corporate limits of the Village of Grosse Tete.

MARDI GRAS ON THE BAYOU – Owners of the property being used for the event brought discussion to the Board of Alderman about liability issues with the having the Festival on their property.  After discussion a motion was made by Alderman Richard David and seconded by Alderwoman Juanita Hill to not hold any more Festivals until all details can be worked out between the Village of Grosse Tete and the property owners.

FIRE DEPT – Chief Hughes stated that he had received a grant in the amount of $16,000.00.  These funds would be used to purchase pagers and bunker gear.  He also stated that he has a contract from the architect for the construction of the new Firehouse.  Attorney Larry Bossier will review the contract before it is to be signed and returned.

NORMA LEGER PROPERTY – Mrs. Norma Leger was granted a variance to move a mobile home behind the current house positioned on her property.  The variance granted a time of six months to have the house torn down or removed.  The time has expired and the house still remains.  After discussion a motion was made by Alderwoman Juanita Hill and seconded by Alderman Richard David to have a letter sent to Mrs. Leger addressing this issue.

ADJOURN - There being no further business, Alderman Richard David made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderwoman Juanita Hill and passed 3 - 0.  The meeting was adjourned.

VILLAGE OF GROSSE TETE?

MINUTES? REGULAR MEETING ?March 11, 2010

The Board of Aldermen of the Village of Grosse Tete held their regular meeting and public hearing at the Town Hall in Grosse Tete on March 11, 2010 at 6:00 P.M.

Mayor Michael Chauffe opened the meeting.  Attorney Larry Bossier led the pledge of allegiance.  The Mayor called roll and the meeting began.

PRESENT - Alderwoman Juanita Hill, Alderman Kyle Booksh, Maintenance Superintendent Phillip Faveroth, Mayor Michael Chauffe, Fire Chief Mike Hughes, Police Chief Tommy Dardenne and Clerk Pamela George.

ABSENT – Alderman Richard David

MINUTES - Alderwoman Juanita Hill made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting and to accept as written, seconded by Alderman Kyle Booksh and passed 2-0.

FINANCIAL REPORT - The finances were discussed and a motion was made by Alderman Kyle Booksh and seconded by Alderwoman Juanita Hill to accept the finances as presented and passed 2 - 0.

MAYORS REPORT - The Mayor presented information as follows:

1.         Mayor Chauffe stated that he had met with officials from LRA about roof tops and generators.  He stated that this project would take quite a bit longer to be put in place.

2.         Mayor Chauffe reported that the Village of Grosse Tete had received grant money in the amount $20,000.00 from LGAP grant.  This money will be used to improve water lines in Angelloz Subdivision.

3.         Mayor Chauffe asked for suggestions on writing a grant offered by Dow Chemical.

4.         The Mayor stated that he has had some complaints about the Leger house not being taken down after a variance was issued with an allotted amount of time to have the house taken down.  Mayor Chauffe will contact family members to work towards getting the house removed.

5.         The sewer project is at facility planning waiting for their approval to proceed.

ANNEXATION – Attorney Larry Bossier brought a letter to the Board of Alderman for approval to be sent to persons living in the proposed annexation area. After much discussion it was determined that the letter would not be sent until the largest land owners were contacted to find out if they were interested in being annexed into the corporate limits of the Village of Grosse Tete.

ADJOURN - There being no further business, Alderwoman Juanita Hill made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Kyle Booksh and passed 2 - 0.  The meeting was adjourned.
