Police arrest suspect in fatal shooting

The 58000 block of Allen Street is taped off following a shooting last Wednesday that left a teenager dead.

Plaquemine Police continue to investigate a shooting that happened in last Wednesday midday in the 58000 block of Allen Street.

Captain Kenny Payne said Wilbert Myles, 17, and Cordias Walker, 22, were arguing over drugs when Walker shot Myles three times in the chest and once in the neck.

Myles was airlifted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives say Walker called 911 confessing to the shooting, saying he had to shoot Myles because he had a weapon pointed at him.

Police have not confirmed that Myles had a gun with him when the shooting happened.

When Plaquemine Police arrived, they say Walker came out with his hands in the air, ready to surrender

Walker is in custody and is facing a charge of second degree murder.

Police continue to investigate the self defense charges.
