Rosedale woman arrested for attempted murder

A Rosedale woman is in custody at Iberville Parish Jail on charges of second-degree murder following an altercation on Friday.

Janeria Carter, 30, used a high-powered rifle to fire shots at her boyfriend after the two had an altercation.

She reportedly opened fire as he tried to flee from the house, according to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi.

“She missed his head, but he got peppered with glass from the window of his car,” Stassi said.

Carter’s boyfriends, who was not identified, sustained minor injuries from the glass fragments.

Carter had no previous criminal record.

She remains in jail on $100,000 bond.
