St. John School Principal Cherie Schlatre excited about upcoming school year

With exterior improvements expected to be completed by the time school starts at the Plaquemine Catholic school, students at St. John School will be attending an even more attractive campus this school year.
Originally two schools -- St. John School for boys and St. Basil's Academy for girls -- St. John School's official founding date is 1853.
'I am looking forward to another great year, especially being able to celebrate 165 years of excellence in Catholic education in our community," said Principal Cherie Schlatre.
"We are excited about the upgrades we are making to the campus, especially the gym, and are hopeful that the Continue the Legacy Capital Campaign will continue to receive the community's support so all of our campus upgrades can be made and we can continue to serve our community at the level they expect," she continued.
Possibly topping the list of improvements at the historic school is the improvements to the facade of the old brick main buildiing.
“Additionally, we have lots of great new people joining our faculty and staff and we know our Eagle family will welcome them," Schlater said. Among them is a new Eagle football coach, Eric Holden.
