Dozens of Louisiana parishes have reported deaths from the coronavirus, with the state experiencing 5,262 fatalities from the disease, as of Sept. 27.

Louisiana on April 30 met White House projections used to model the virus' effects across the country that estimated the state could see more than 1,900 deaths from coronavirus.

As of Sept. 27, Louisiana had 163,928 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in its 64 parishes
