Elaine "Lanky" Johnson Legere

(August 21, 1949 - March 26, 2011)

"The joy of the Lord is my strength."  A resident and native of

Plaquemine, she died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at her

home. She was 61. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, on

Monday, March 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at First Baptist

Church, Plaquemine, on Tuesday, March 29, from 10 a.m. until religious

service at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Keith Horton. Interment in

Grace Memorial Park. Survived by her husband of 38 years, James "Red"

Legere, Plaquemine; mother, Mary Lou Mire Johnson, Addis; daughter, Tara

Legere Allen and husband Randy, Plaquemine; son, James "Lil Red" Legere

Jr. and wife Trisha Carline Legere, Plaquemine; three sisters, Sally

Johnson Jones and husband Tom, Baton Rouge, Cindy Johnson Bourg and

husband Mark, Port Allen, and Cheryl Johnson and partner Tatia Coco,

Baton Rouge; brother, Thomas "Wesley" Johnson Sr. and wife Irene Hidalgo

Johnson, Plaquemine; five grandchildren, Cydney Legere, Randi Salvadras,

James Legere III, Keegan Allen and Nathan Henson; and numerous nieces,

nephews and close friends. Preceded in death by her father, James

Richard Johnson Sr.; brother, James "Jimmy" Richard Johnson Jr.; and

sister, Tammy Sue Johnson. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Michael

Jones, Thomas Wesley Johnson Jr., John Travis Johnson, Clay M. "Tres"

Bourg III, James "Richie" Richard Johnson Jr. and Michael Langlois.
