Public input sought on school board reapportionment

Dear Christian friends,

On November 4, 2013, the Iberville Parish School Board will hold a public hearing on the reapportionment of the school board.

In 2010, the Louisiana Legislature passed a law that Iberville must adhere to. The law says the 15-member board must reduce itself to eight single member districts and one at-large district.  Traditionally, elected members oversee the redistricting of the districts.

In the greater Plaquemine area we have had two very distinct minority districts.

One located in the Seymourville area and one in the greater Plaquemine area commonly referred to as back of town.

With the new redistricting plan, we may or may not have the two districts, which of course provides a lesser voice on the board.  Therefore we are asking as many citizens as possible to attend the 5 p.m. public hearing on Nov. 4.

Our children need our support, so please come out and support this effort.

Sincerely,

Dorothy Sansoni
