PHS girls romps to district win over Livonia

Plaquemine High’s Lady Green Devils romped to a 62-20 rout of District 8-3A rival Livonia High to boost their early league mark to 1-1.

The 14-7 overall PHS girls jumped out to a huge 28-3 lead by the end of the first period and never looked back. They later turned in a 12-0 advantage in the third stanza as they shut down the Lady Wildcat offense.

Ashley Smith led the way for the hosting PHS girls with 10 points, while a trio of Lady Devil teammates hit for 8 points apiece. They were Amber Smith, Andrenna Marshall, Kadijah Mims, and Myeisha Bell. Jirma Russ tallied 7 and Brianna Arnold 6 points as the PHS girls showed a very balanced offensive attack. Jill Hall had a team-high 9 for Livonia (0-2 in 8-3A and 9-7 overall).
