East Iberville High began boys’ basketball competition early last week ranked tops in power points and second in the LSWA poll in Class 1-A. The Tigers looked every bit the part in their first game of the week as they rolled up a huge 106-57 victory over a young Ascension CHS club in Donaldsonville.

Coach Doug Schultz’s Tigers boosted their overall record to an outstanding 15-2 and their District 8-1A mark to 3-0 with the victory. It came just prior to their hosting top-ten ranked parish/district rival White Castle last Friday (see article in this section).

EI rolled up quarter margins of 21-16, 27-15, 23-9, and 25-17 against ACHS, despite the final ten Tigers hit the floor and scored in the rout.

Senior six-foot center Greg Pickett led the way for EIHS with a game-high 29 points, while four other Tigers scored in double figures. First-year point guard Darryl Ingram popped in 19, while Jarrod Redditt netted 13. Richard Johnson and Frank Broussard tallied 10 apiece. Javonte Sherman scored 8, while four other Tigers combined for 10 more points.

The EI JVs won as well, taking a 31-28 victory.
