Lady Eagles top WCHS for 20th season win, seventh 8-A win in row

EAGLE INFIELDERS…St. John High softball team infielder Taylor Landry helped boost their club’s unbeaten record in District 8-1A play last week. Taylor, reportedly, was injured during the week and the senior could be out for the remainder of the season.

St. John High’s girls boosted their softball season record to an impressive 20-3 and their District 8-A mark to 7-0 last Thursday with a 21-1 victory over parish/league rival White Castle High.

Combined with a pair of routing wins over East Iberville the Lady Eagles won three league games in a row and averaged over a dozen runs a contest in doing so.

SJHS 21, WCHS 1:

The Eagles tallied seven runs in the third inning and 10 in the fourth to spark their big district victory.

Kamryn Theriot picked up the mound victory with relief help from Kyndal Guillory. Theriot allowed two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk. Guillory allowed one more hit.

Senior Kathryn D’Albor continued a recent hitting streak for SJHS as she blasted a pair of doubles and a single, driving in three runs to lead the offensive attack. Jessie Brown had a hot bat for the Eagles with a triple and a single, driving home three runs. Outfielder Maddie Bahry had a big game as well. The senior had a double and a single, and walked twice. She drove in three runs.

Kaycee Hudson sent home two runs with a pair of singles, while Theriot had a two-run single.

Francesca Louivere drove in two runs with a single, while Alana Blanchard and Shelbi Strickland had RBI base hits. Alexis Ledet ripped a double.

White Castle fell to 4-14 overall and to 2-4 in District 8-1A competition as they entered weekend ball.

SJHS SWEEPS EIHS:

The Lady Eagles swept East Iberville High in a district doubleheader early last week, taking victories of 15-0 and 15-1. The pair of victories boosted the league leaders to a 19-3 record and a perfect 6-0 in district as they entered their game with White Castle High later in the week.

Kamryn Theriot pitched a three-inning no hit shutout with six strikeouts and a walk in the opener. Jessie Brown blasted a home run and drove in four runs to pace the offensive attack. Shelbi Strickland had a triple and two RBI, while Kathryn D’Albor had a pair of doubles and three RBI. Taylor Landry collected a double and a single, while Kaycee Hudson drove in three runs with a pair of singles. Maddie Bahry and Anna Roy had base hits.

Hudson started the second game and allowed only a walk to post the mound victory. Theriot replaced her on the mound and allowed one hit and a pair of walks and garnered a save.

D’Albor hit a home run to lead the SJHS offense. Hudson had a pair of singles and a trio of RBI, while Landry had a triple and two RBI. Strickland banged out a double, while Bahry had a pair of singles. Theriot and Francesca Louviere added base hits.
