Week 6 Football Preview: Can East Iberville make it 6-0?

The East iberville Tigers have trailblazed to a 5-0 start this season after a win Friday in Week 5 action.

East Iberville hopes to remain unbeaten, while other local schools hope to gain ground in district races in Week 6 of the high school football season.

The Tigers, the Cinderella story of the 2011 season, entertain Class 1A state champion White Castle in 9-1A fare.

EIHS improved to 5-0 after a 42-8 win at West Lincoln County High in Brookhaven, Miss.

White Castle hopes to snap a four-game losing skid that began in Week 2 against Central Catholic. The Bulldogs lost 27-6 Friday in homecoming action against Class 3A’s Port Allen, which remained unbeaten after five games.

In another 9-1A contest, St. John (3-2) hosts longtime district foe Ascension Catholic (1-4) Thursday night at Plaquemine High’s Andrew Canova Stadium.

The Eagles nipped Kentwood 50-48 on the road Friday, while Ascension Catholic lost 42-19 against Christian Life.

The Plaquemine Green Devils (2-3) continue 7-4A action Friday against visiting Broadmoor (3-2) at Andrew Canova Stadium. Plaquemine enters the game after a 22-6 win at Tara, while the Buccaneers lost 42-14 to state powerhouse Lutcher.
