Green Devils dive into district

Plaquemine Green Devils, much like the Lady Green Devils, have jumped out to an early lead in the 6-4A district play.
PHS opened district play last week at Woodlawn B.R. and came away victorious 57-43. Team scoring leader Keandre Randall racked up 24 points in the victory, followed by Henry Spriggs with 19, Darius Jackson with six and Trajan Butler with four.
Herb Thomas racked up four assists, Randall with three and Butler, Khris Grace and Darius Jackson each with one. Randall lead with four steals.
After earning their first district victory of the season, the Plaquemine Green Devils returned home to host rival Tara and dominated the visiting Trojans 76-52.
Darius Jackson lead the way in scoring with 16 points, followed by Wayne Toussant and Keandre Randall each with 13, A.J. Riley with 10, Herb Thomas with seven and Henry Spriggs with six.
Randall was assist leader for the Devils with seven, followed by Thomas and Toussant each with four. Trajan Butler totaled a team-high five steals in the win.
The Plaquemine Green Devils sport an overall 18-6 record and are 2-0 in district play before hitting the road to take on Belaire and hosting St. Michael Jan. 27.
PHS currently ranks number eight overall in the LHSAA 4A power ranking.
