White Castle Bulldogs have reached a 7-1 record in district play, good enough to lead in most LHSAA districts, but are trailing 6-1A leader Southern Lab at 8-0 and will fight for first place over the next two weeks of play.

White Castle reached their impressive district record after earning wins over parish rival St. John and district rival Ascension Catholic last week.

WCHS traveled to St. John on Jan. 31 and came away with a 69-34 win over the Eagles.

WCHS capped off last week’s road tour with a trip to rival Ascension Catholic, and came out on top over the Bulldogs 74-53.

White Castle’s only district loss came at the hands of rival Southern Lab earlier in January in a narrow 47-50 tilt.

Bulldogs Ja’Tyre Carter, Koye Ruffin, Kenneth Bracken and others need to earn a win over Southern Lab to tie for first place in District 6-1A.  The team hits the road to take on SL this week and will close out their week at home against Ascension Christian.

White Castle currently ranks fourth overall in the LHSAA 1A power rankings.  Southern Lab sits comfortably at number two overall in the Division IV power rankings.  Look for a clash of the titans between these dominant 1A teams.
