The St. John Lady Eagles have repeated their dominant 49-31 January victory over parish rival East Iberville last week with a 39-16 rout.  This win gives the Lady Eagles their fourth overall district victory of the season, and second over EIHS in their 2016-17 campaign.

The Lady Eagles held a narrow 15-10 point lead at the half, but then put up 17 points in the third quarter and held the Lady Tigers to just six points in the second half.

Grace Robichaux was scoring leader with 14 points and made 71 percent of her attempts.  Robbi Seneca racked up seven points, five rebounds and a block, Madison Young scored six, Elizabeth Bueche totaled six points, a trio of rebounds and a steal, J’Nyria Kelly totaled four points and a pair of rebounds and Hannah Hargrove racked up two points, nine rebounds and a pair of steals.

The Lady Eagles put on a dominant defensive performance, totaling 24 defensive rebounds and 17 steals.

Earlier in the week, St. John nearly pulled off an upset over parish rival White Castle, but came up just shy at the last minute 61-64.

SJHS lead WCHS 37-26 at the half, but WCHS pulled from behind to tie the game 52-52 with just under six minutes to play in the fourth.

SJHS lead 60-59 with under two minutes remaining, but the Lady Bulldogs squeaked out the thriller in the final seconds.

The Lady Eagles are 11-12 overall and sport a 4-7 district record.  They will hit the road to take on Christian Life on Feb. 9 and close out district play at home against Ascension Catholic.

The Lady Eagles are currently fourth in 6-1A, behind Southern Lab, White Castle and Ascension Christian, respectively.
