Bulldogs finish second in 6-1A

Head coach Troy Green and the White Castle Bulldogs faced one task to finish second overall in 6-1A: fend off the roaring East Iberville Tigers.
EIHS had just come off a two-game winning streak over Ascension Christian and Kentwood last week and brought their momentum to White Castle High last Saturday in hopes of tying WCHS for second place behind leader Southern Lab.
The Bulldogs were not having any of it and stopped the Tigers in their tracks with a final score of 73-61.
WCHS defeated the Tigers 73-57 in their first matchup of the season in January. The Bulldogs have the advantage of numbers over the Tigers, but look for EIHS to make a splash in the 1A playoffs.
The Bulldogs earned their final win of the regular season to finish with a 21-13 overall record and 10-2 in district play.
White Castle’s only two district losses came to Southern Lab, both one-possession losses. WCHS fell 47-50 Jan. 13 and 40-42 on the road on Feb. 7.
WCHS moved back up to fourth overall in the 1A power rankings this week. The Bulldogs may be in just the right spot before they begin their postseason run to reach the 1A Finals. They trail behind leader Sicily Island, Lincoln Prep and Delhi Charter.
Expect coach Green to make the right moves as postseason play begins.
WCHS received the fourth overall seed in the 1A bracket and will open postseason play at home against D’Arbonne Woods Charter.
