St. John Lady Eagles earned their first win of the regular season last week with a dominant 9-4 victory on the road at St. Michael.

The Lady Eagles trailed after the first inning, 0-1, but put up six runs in the top of the second inning and one in each of the closing three in the seven-inning tilt.

Kynlee LeBlanc was the lead hitter for the St. John Lady Eagles with three and one RBI.  Kelsey LeBlanc was the RBI leader with three.

Monica Rivet took the mound in the win and pitched all seven innings with 30 first pitch strikes and four strikeouts.

SJHS followed the win with a road trip to the annual St. Amant Tournament, but came away with three straight losses in their weekend bout.

Lady Eagles opened play against a stout Slidell team, but came up short 2-13.  They followed with a close one against St. Joseph’s, 1-4 and closed out with a 3-8 loss to Mandeville.

Kaylee Sadden was the lead hitter in the loss to Slidell and Grace Acosta and Taylor Vince each racked up an RBI.  Grayson Schnebelen pitched the last three innings for the Lady Eagles and totaled one strikeout.

St. Joseph put up their only four scores in the bottom of the first inning.  The Lady Eagles put forth a solid defensive effort in keeping the home team scoreless through the final innings, but could muster up just one run in the loss. McKenzie Richard hit in the team’s lone RBI.  Monica Rivet pitched and threw 20 first pitch strikes and a pair of strikeouts.

St. John closed out with a loss to Mandeville, 3-8, but kept things interesting to the end.  St. John had a chance to close the gap but could not find a way to put points on the board.

Alise Wille and Samantha Landry each co-lead with a pair of hits while Landry totaled a pair of RBIs.

Monica Rivet and Grace Acosta each split pitching duties in the loss and each earned a strikeout.

The Lady Eagles will look to rebound early this week against Ascension Christian, Ascension Catholic and U High this week.
