After racking up a trio of district victories, the Plaquemine Lady Green Devils hit the road to take on neighboring Ascension Catholic Lady Bulldogs in non-district play and came away with a 15-8 win.

The Lady Devils and Lady Bulldogs were tied 4-4 at the top of the fifth when PHS kicked their game into high gear and tacked on five more runs in the fifth while blanking the home team.

PHS put up six more runs in the top of the sixth.  The home Lady Bulldogs tried to fight back to close the massive 15-4 Lady Devil lead, but could only muster up four more runs to close out the tilt.

Madison Hebert was the lead hitter for the Lady Devils with three.  Amber Granger and Emily Falencki each racked up two.  Falencki totaled three RBIs, Granger earned two.

Hebert also pitched all seven innings for PHS and earned 19 first pitch strikes and a pair of strikeouts.

After the win, Lady Devils continued their district journey at home against St. Michael but lost a one-point thriller in the bottom of the sixth, 3-4.

St. Michael jumped to an early 3-1 lead over Plaquemine after the first inning.  Both teams blanked the next four innings before STM put up one more run in the top of the sixth.

The Lady Devils attempted to tie the game at the bottom of the sixth, but only put up a pair of runs and blanked in the seventh, giving the Lady Devils their first district loss of the season.

Hope Spencer earned one RBI for the Lady Devils.  Hebert pitched all seven innings and earned 23 first pitch strikes and five strikeouts.

Plaquemine is currently 3-1 in district play and will look to get revenge on rival St. Michael on the road this week, followed by a road trip to Livonia on Wednesday and a home matchup against Woodlawn on Thursday.
