Another Iberville standout has earned a no-hitter this season.  This time it comes from St. John Eagles pitcher Landon Leblanc, who tossed a no-hitter against parish rival White Castle Bulldogs on Tuesday.

The three-inning tilt resulted in a 29-0 blowout victory for the Eagles that began with 19 runs scored in the top of the first, followed by two in the second and eight in the third.

Leblanc took the mound and racked up seven first pitch strikes and nine strikeouts.  All nine White Castle outs were snagged by pitcher Leblanc.

Not only did the Eagles dominate defensively, but offensively.  As a team, SJHS racked up 19 hits.  Justin Rivet was the team’s lead hitter with three, followed by Adam Blanchard with two and Barrett Gomez with two.

Justin Rivet also was the team’s RBI co-leader along with Collin Barbee with five a piece.  Tre Dupont followed with three.

“Landon did a good job of staying focused and doing his job on the mound,” head coach Chris Harrell said.  “He was pitching with a big lead and continued to get good work in on the mound.

“As a team we played a really good game.  We were focused at the plate and had a great approach.”

The St. John Eagles are currently 7-1 overall in district 6-1A and will look to keep the top spot over second place Ascension Catholic at 6-1 when they take on White Castle at home on Thursday.

The Eagles will play West Feliciana in a non-district matchup this weekend before taking on Ascension Catholic in an all-important series next week that will most likely decide the 6-1A champion.
