Athletes compete in District 6-1A track meet
East Iberville Tigers, White Castle Bulldogs and the St. John Eagles recently competed in the annual District 6-1A track meet held at White Castle High on April 20.
East Iberville Tigers placed second overall with a score of 104, behind leader Kentwood at 182. Southern Lab followed with a score of 95, Ascension Catholic at 76, White Castle at 58 and St. John at 8.
Ascension Catholic Lady Bulldogs took first overall in the women’s events with a score of 128. Kentwood followed at 92, East Iberville Lady Tigers placed third with 84 points, St. John Lady Eagles at 63, Southern Lab at 45 and White Castle Lady Bulldogs at 44.
Lady Bulldog speedster Ariel Bell placed first overall in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash with times of 12.00 and 24.91. Lady Bulldog Tyler Foster placed second in the 100 meter with a time of 13.21, followed by Lady Tiger Destiny Jackson at 13.36. Jackson also placed third in the 200 meter at 27.93.
Bulldog Marlon Lewis placed third in the 100 meter with a time of 11.20, followed by EIHS Tiger Edward Smith at 11.31. Tigers Troy Warmsley and Edward Smith each placed third and fourth overall in the 200 meter dash with times of 23.16 and 23.23.
Lady Eagle Annie McLin took first overall in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.13, followed by Lady Tiger Tristanny Simpson at 19.14. McLin also placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at 50.75.
Tiger Anthony Davis placed first in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.60. and first in the 300-meter hurdle at 42.45.
The Tigers placed first overall in the 4x100 meter relay with a combined time of 44.29. The Lady Tigers placed second in the 4x100, 4x200 and the 4x400 with times of 53.78, 1:54.93, and 4:53.79, respectively.
Bulldog Columbus Willis placed third in the shot put with a distance of 42’1”. Tiger Lester Joseph placed first in the discus throw at 111’10”, followed by Eagle Devin Romig at 111’4”. Tiger Edward Smith placed second in the javelin throw at 111’8” while Bulldog Calvin Deggs placed fourth at 101’00”.
Lady Tiger Taliyah Mathis placed third in the shot put and discus throws with distances of 24’4” and 62’8”, respectively. St. John Lady Eagle Carolyne Glaser placed third in javelin with a distance of 69’2”.
Bulldog Marlon Lewis placed first overall in the long jump with a distance of 20’6.5”, followed by Tiger Lyndell Joseph at 19’9”.
Joseph placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 42’2”, followed by Bulldog Quinton Johnson at 42’1.5”.
Lady Eagle Samantha Fleniken and Lady Tiger Taylor Gordon each tied for first in the high jump with heights of 4’4”. Lady Eagle Hannah Alexander placed first in the pole vault at 7’.
Lady Tiger Gordon placed first overall in long jump with a distance of 14’10” and Lady Eagles Margo Crockett and Samantha Fleniken placed second and third overall in triple jump with distances of 29’11” and 26’8”, respectively.
